Why are your pearls tight? We have had many wonderful comments on our Classic Pearl Necklace. Thank you! The pearls wholesale are so lovely with a high luster and clean surface quality… we love them too! One of the questions our customers ask is… Why are they knotted so tight? It is a great question!
Our pearls (along with any other high quality pearls) are knotted on silk and that silk stretches! In fact, one of the ways to maintain the high quality and long life of your pearls is to have them routinely reknotted. Well, we want to delay that for you. By offering tightly knotted pearls we are ensuring that the silk will take much longer to stretch. What it means in the short term, though, is that your pearls will take a wear or two before they have a uniform drape to them.
If you don’t care about the tight knots and prefer for your necklace to stretch, you have a few options. First run your fingers along your necklace and give a slight tug to each pearl. If that doesn’t stretch them enough, simply dampen the silk strand and pull on each pearl to stretch the silk or hang the necklace to dry and gravity will stretch that silk for you.
Thanks for your feedback! Keep those questions and comments coming!
